Millbrook Dairy’s “Tuk Tuk” Challenge raises over £25k for BBC Children In Need
Millbrook Dairy, the fast-growing cheese and butter business founded in 2019 by David Evans and Kevin Beer, has raised over £25k for BBC Children in Need through its epic Tuk-Tuk Challenge.
David and Kevin travelled from their headquarters in Bideford, Devon to the Orkney Islands in Scotland, in a Tuk-Tuk sporting a giant wedge of cheese on the roof – a journey that included 29 stops and more than 1600 miles.
The pair visited many of the major UK cheese producers in England, Wales and Scotland along the way, tasting and grading their cheese, starting with Parkham Farms in Devon, and finishing at Kirkwall Creamery on the Orkney Islands, nine days later.
As part of their adventure, David and Kevin visited Persie Distillery, home of Millbrook Dairy’s 1057 Gin, and Balmoral Castle hoping to drop off some 1057 Extra Mature Scottish Cheddar for the King and Queen.
Kevin Beer, Co-Founder and Director at Millbrook Dairy Company, said:
“It’s our fifth birthday this year, and we wanted to do something completely different where we could give back to society – hence our crazy Tuk-Tuk idea!
“As well as raising a huge amount of money for BBC Children In Need, we have sampled some amazing cheeses along the way from many of the very best of UK producers. We have loved every moment, although it has certainly made us appreciate the comfort, we all take for granted in our normal vehicles!
“Watch this space as we may well do another trip next year – maybe across France, Italy or even the USA.”
David Evans, Co-Founder and Director at Millbrook Dairy Company, added:
“What an adventure! We are absolutely delighted to have raised over £25,000 for Children in Need, an amazing charity that helps fund thousands of projects in every corner of the UK.
“Our family and friends have sponsored us, and some of our wonderful supply partners and customers have supported us too, and we are hoping that our fund raising will continue right up until Children In Need night in November.
